The successful film, “The Secret,” introduced a worldwide audience to the law of attraction nearly 15 years ago.
But do you ever find yourself wondering why the law works effectively in some cases, while in other areas of your life nothing changes?
Just like learning to skillfully ride a bicycle or cook a magnificent meal, creating the life of your dreams through the law of attraction requires practice. The good news is there are methods we can follow to use the law more effectively.
How the law of attraction works
To know how to use the law of attraction, we first need to understand how it works. Simply put, this principle says that what you focus on with consistency, you attract.
But there is another layer to this law that’s equally important.
Though your thoughts have incredible power to attract, your emotions are even more powerful.
It’s often said that emotions are simply “energy in motion,” and I believe this is true. Feelings act as the vibration, or frequency, that we send out to the universe. They then act like a magnetic charge that brings people and circumstances to us that match the energetic signature we send out.
A good example of this theory is days when we believe everything is going wrong.
When you negatively react to things that don’t go the way you wanted, hold on to frustration, and complain to friends or colleagues, you attract more things that don’t go as planned.
We can use what we know about our emotions to better manage what we attract.
1. Be a Keen Observer of Where You Place Your Attention
To effectively attract what you want, start by cleaning up your frequency. Accomplishing this begins with being mindful of where you place your attention.
Often when the intention or vision you want to manifest doesn’t show up in your reality, it’s because you are giving out mixed signals to the universe.
You can spend your mornings visualizing the new car you want, or what your new job will look like. You may even walk away from those visualizations feeling uplifted and refreshed.
However, if you spend the rest of the day grumbling about the car you currently drive, or expressing distaste for your current job, you send out two contrasting frequencies that cancel each other out.
Instead, focus on what you want to create. More importantly, refuse to let your attention stray throughout your day.
A good way to get used to choosing where you place your attention is by adopting a regular meditation practice. A tip on how to do this successfully is to observe what you think empowers you to become selective about your thoughts and feelings.
2. Find Time Each Day to Be Grateful
One of the fastest ways to align yourself with what you want is through a gratitude practice.
Gratitude is a powerful emotion, and when you’re grateful, the universe will bring you more things to be grateful for.
While this practice works at any time, I try to practice gratitude is in the morning because it helps set a positive tone for the day. When you start your mornings feeling grateful, you will attract more circumstances, and people throughout your day will help you maintain that positive vibration.
3. Work Through Limiting Beliefs
Our subconscious mind is the part of us that runs all the functions of our body — beyond the scope of our thinking mind. This is also the part of our psyche that stores deep-seated beliefs about ourselves and the world around us.
For that reason, we may not always be aware of what some of our beliefs are. Often, the beliefs that we are least aware are of are the ones that prove to be the most limiting.
Getting the most out of the law of attraction requires that you identify and work through any beliefs that impose limits on who you are or what you can become.
Holding onto negative beliefs is another way of sending mixed signals to the universe, and preventing the law of attraction from bringing you what you need.
By adopting these practices as part of your daily routine, you will start to notice significant improvements in your ability to attract your desires and, ultimately, create the life of your dreams.
